Why do IAS aspirants hide the fact that they are preparing for the IAS?

There can be several reasons why IAS aspirants may choose to hide the fact that they are preparing for the IAS exam.

Firstly, the IAS exam is highly competitive, and some aspirants may feel that disclosing their intention to take the exam could put them at a disadvantage, either by attracting unwanted attention or by giving their competitors an edge.

Secondly, some may not have the support of their family or friends and may be concerned that they will not be understood or will be discouraged from pursuing their goal.

Thirdly, some may not want to be judged by people who think that the IAS is the only way to be successful in life.

Fourthly, some may not want to be seen as being too ambitious or career-focused, as it may be viewed negatively in some societies.

Lastly, some may be keeping their preparation a secret as they are not sure of their chances of selection and might not want to disappoint others.

It is important to note that it is an individual choice of the aspirant whether to reveal their preparation or not and it does not affect their potential success in the exam.
